The original Korda Longshank X was based on the popular and original fly hook designs, which have found favour with carp anglers because of their shape and hooking ability - we've made them much stronger and sharper.
Fast forward 20 years and DF has once again fine-tuned this ultimate carp catcher. Strongly influenced by his underwater experiences, Dan decided to make two major changes to one of his favorite models, making it an even more formidable option in his arsenal.
The first change was to create the hook with a beak tip. In tests, the beak tip resulted in safer catches, significantly increasing the ratio of fish hooked to fish caught.
The other change was to further retract the eyelet. The original model has a 20-degree retracted eye, the new beak version increases this to 40 degrees. This helps the hook to pivot and rotate extremely quickly in the carp's mouth, ensuring consistently secure catches.
In keeping with the original model, the Longshank Beaked is forged, with a reinforced wire gauge for extra strength, while maintaining its durability with a PTFE coating.
