The Kamakura sharpening process produces a hook point that is just as good as a hand-sharpened hook, but without you having to spend all the time and effort doing it yourself - you can be sure that these hooks are perfect every time, right out of the box. The Kamakura Wide Gape X is an improved version of this classic design, with thicker gauge wire, but with a much sharper and finer point than the standard "X" hook - you're likely to have to change your hook after every fish you catch, because the points are so delicate. It features a slightly inward-facing eye with a short shank, a heavily forged bend, and a beaked point. It can be used with a wide variety of different pop-up and bottom bait presentations, and once it goes in, it tends to stay in. The tips are protected by a drop of wax that must be carefully removed before use, and they come in a box that holds each individual hook securely in place - you get ten hooks in each box. Both barbed and barbless versions are available in sizes 4, 6 or 8.
